Last night Apple closed the App Store for “scheduled maintenance” and then this morning after checking the app store for a new app I noticed that the prices had changed!

Very sneaky of Apple to do this, not impressed!

I am deleting my account but before I did that I wanted to download all of the uploads, this is how I did it!

Install the app and then follow the setup, you’ll need to connect your twitter account and it will do the rest for you, once it has downloaded all of the photos you are presented with an “archive all” button, clicking this will allow you to save the photos to you computer, you can also export the images to Posterous but you don’t have to even have a Posterous account to use their lovely little app!

Obviously Sony would have known that people details had been stolen on the day the PSN (Playstation Network) collapsed due to a hack, they only decided to release this information today, they said that the following details have been stolen.

• Name
• Address (city, state/province, zip or postal code)
• Country
• E-mail address
• Date of birth
• PlayStation Network/Qriocity passwords and login
• Handle/PSN online ID

What a disaster! Lets hope they can recover and compensate users for this huge breech of data protection – lawsuits are surely on their way to Sony!

Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio If you haven’t played any of the Angry Birds series then you are missing out, it is simply one of the most addictive and fun games you can play for the iPhone. Each level you are given different numbers of birds and each of the different birds has their own special power, some split into three, others explode and some even act just like a boomerang – there are more birds with more powers but I don’t want to ruin the surprise – you use those birds to try and destroy the pigs that have stolen your eggs! The first Angry Birds game contains 240 levels of varying difficulty and that’s not including the golden egg levels or the facebook unlockables and there are more on the way as updates are released every couple of months. The second Angry Birds game is Angry Birds Seasons which usually gets updated to support a different type of season or special holiday, currently there is a Christmas theme, Halloween, Valentines and St Patricks Day – I’m guessing they’ll do an easter one next but who knows – the gameplay is the same as the first game but there are hidden extras that if destroyed can drastically improve your score. The third Angry Birds game is Angry Birds Rio, a fantastically executed tie in to the movie, Rio – this time there are no pigs to destroy, they have been replaced by caged birds (which you set free) and monkeys – it also looks like there are many levels to be released in the future! Momento I’ve always kept a diary since I was at school and this application allows me to do that, it allows me to export it too, but the real great thing about this app is that it can pull your activity from different sources online – Facebook Statuses, Tweets, FourSquare check-ins, Flickr, Youtube and pretty much anything that has an RSS feed – which over time allows you to read back a true glimpse of your life – a little review like mine really does not do it justice – check it out! NextBuses Every so often I have to take public transport to get somewhere – I do this begrudgingly but this application helps me avoid the pitfalls of waiting 30 mins for the next bus – using GPS it finds the bus stops in your area and if you select the bus stop it allows you to see, in realtime, how long the next bus will be – really useful app especially if you don’t know which bus stop to take too! Camera+ This is my most used and favourite photography app and with every release it just seems to improve – lots of filters, effects and features and it also supports uploading to Flickr, Twitter and Facebook and it also saves all of the EXIF data which really appeals to me! Everyday 11 years ago, a man starting taking a photo of himself everyday, that man was Noah Kalina, he is still doing so to this day – he also made a video of all the pictures of himself – this app encompasses everything he does and allows you to do it with ease – I’ve just started taking my photos and I can’t wait to see how I change over the years – epic app! I ordered myself an iPad 2 last night – as soon as they became available – I made sure to set up my 1-click buy settings so that it would be an easy process and it was – apparently some people reported difficulty in placing an order during this time but not me – the only thing that happened which confused me was the order not showing up in the order status section of the website but after checking this morning it is certainly there!

*edit : I forgot to say that I’m looking at waiting until the 15th April before it gets dispatched and a further 10 days after that until it should be delivered but there is no way I’m queuing for hours outside my local Apple store to be disappointed when I get inside and they’ve ran out – I will however be counting down the days and getting ready impatient – but it’ll be worth it – I might even make an album on it – The Gorillaz did it

iTunes did it’s thing and started to download the latest version, and then started the backup, oh the backup, this took FOREVER…all i could see was this lovely status bar…

I actually thought that my iTunes had frozen because it took THAT long, 40-50 mins…..just to backup!

Then the installation began…and finished, and then iTunes decided to tell me this…

Great….and THEN, iTunes started to restore my backup to the new updated iOS4, which took another 20 minutes or so, and when it had finished I realised that my iPhone was struggling big time, a swipe on the screen to move through my application took almost 10 seconds and was jittery when it did, I rebooted the phone and everything seemed fine, I started to check out the much talked about features…and found out that most of the useful/nice ones weren’t included on the 3G version….no backgrounds, no multitasking….no point?!

Some plus points, 3G users were given the use of folders, this is creating folders so that apps can be organised, like so…

For me, that’ll be really useful change as I was having to spread my applications over 8 or so screens, and now I can have them all within reach.

Other things I’ve noticed are little red dashed lines under words when typing, a type of spellchecker and also, the places feature within Photos which shows pins on a map, select the pin and see the photo that was taken there, its nothing special but it is a nice little addition to an app that can’t really move on that much

Underwhelmed? Yes, I would have at least expected the background feature to be included, I knew that multitasking was 3GS only, maybe I hoped for too much, maybe I believed the hype, maybe I’m looking forward to getting my iPhone4…that might be it!

The 3rd incarnation of wordpress has arrived, and it’s called Thelonious

After realising the UK network pre-orders had sold out when I returned home after work, I decided that I wanted to buy one direct from Apple, they were showing that I could so I decided to press on and do so, I added the iPhone to my basket and proceeded to carry out the purchase…only problem being was that I kept receiving this horribly annoying error message after I had filled out all of the details for purchase

Now obviously I was aware that demand for the iPhone4 is astronomically big, its the most sought after piece of new mobile technology and people are literally going crazy for it. I myself felt the slight twinges of mania when I thought that I wasn’t going to be able to get one, I can only explain these feelings as a mixture of jealous and greed, two of the seven deadly sins! Eeek!

I persevered in my ordering quest, noticing that the shipping dates on the website had changed I decided to try one last time!

Hurrah! I managed to secure myself one, but I will not receive my iPhone4 until July 5th – 6th, this is because I just didn’t get my order placed this morning, oh well, I’m still getting a bleeding iPhone4!

YAY!

I’m happy now!

I’ve tried many times to jailbreak my iPhone, and always failed – having to restore it afterwards…not today!

I now own a jailbroken iPhone – and all I had to do was click a button and the program did it all for me – so simple!

So if you want to jailbreak your iPhone give this app a go, it’s Windows and Mac supported.

After the app has ran you will find an icon on your app screen called blackra1n, click that and your away!

Please be aware that you jailbreak you iPhone at your own risk and I understood this before I went ahead so you do this at your own risk!

Quick post to let you all know that WordPress just released their new WordPress app for iPhone/iPod touch – WordPress 2, and you can download it here

Don’t get me wrong, I love the range of twitter services such as twitpic, yfrog and the like but I do have something to say about the stupid about of adverts each one displays and makes money from…so when I stumbled across this little gem I was very happy!

All you need is

• An iPhone
• Tweetie2 (Application)
• Self Hosted WordPress Blog

If you have all of those then the next step is to go here and voilà – self hosted images and increased traffic to your own website too!

This morning I managed to get iPhone OS 3.0

Here’s how!

1. Download the 3.0 OS from this location, this includes the activation needed too
2. Once downloaded, plug in the iPhone and do a backup.
3. Now you’ll see if you click on check for update it will say that you already have the current version
4. The clever and ever so simple bit is this – You press shift+Check for Update for PC, and option+Check for Update for Mac.
5. The next thing to open is a browser window, located the downloaded file and select it
6. Let itunes update you
7. You are 3.0-ing!!
8. MMS may or may not work at first, to trial it, send your own iPhone an MMS, if this works then you are ready to go!

Hope this works for you guys, this worked like a dream for me – no hassle

The idea is very similar to Space Invaders, but you have to tap fast to avoid the city below from becoming destroyed!

I recently upgraded my phone (Nokia N95 8GB) to it’s successor (Nokia N96) and being a total Twitter addict, I decided that I needed to find an application that I could use with it.

I had tried Twibble but really wasn’t impressed by it at all, the layout and the navigation were clunky and ugly, and although it supported the uploading of pictures, it didn’t provide thumbnails to the picture that was chosen, so in theory that could’ve been rather embarrasing if I had ended upload one of my “other” photos!

I then stumbled across Gravity and just from looking at the website, I believed this was going to be the app for me.

I installed it and started to try it out, it supports TwitPic and also Mobypicture, it allows you to set searches for keywords and such, and a major plus point for me is that it can run in the background and auto-update!

Try it out today, it is a paid app – but you get a 10 day free trial, I purchased it!
